Today my day was made!

If restoring the MGA will keep you from enjoying it whenever you feel like a drive, then you should have left it ratty! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Our MGA was frame-up restored when I bought it. We've put many fun miles on the car since then. It has nicks here and there but I figure we're giving it back its history. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Vping, showed the picture of your TD to my wife and she says
" How'd you get a picture of my TD on the internet?"
We have the twin to your car in the garage, though your patina might be slightly more than on hers! I agree fix the broken stuff and bad body areas and drive it.

There is only one area on the body I wish I could repair. Right under the passenger headlight is a fist size dent & also the overrider was pushed into the same fender. Both part of the same incident. If I found an original black fender I might buy it.

Oh I just realized, I need the overriders and my bumpers are kinda hammered. If I found an original set of those with a few dings & pitting, twould fit like a glove.

Steve,

Thanks for the note... My A is nearing the completion of a 4 year frame off restoration. It is absolutely spot on pristine...I drive my 'ratty' B whenever I get frustrated with the A's progress. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

Time will tell how much I will drive the A, although I suspect it will oft be driven. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

By the way, the A was a complete wreck when I bought it so I did not have the option to 'leave it ratty'...

The B REALLY needs an engine rebuild.. The oil pressure hovers around 10 psi when warmed up. I have rebuilt the suspension, brakes, and other miscellaneous electrical components. There is the rust on the bottom sills, doors, and fender panels that I have yet to correct. The paint is various shades of black and grey. The interior is cracked and well worn. The seats are without foam other than a fine powder that 'puffs' out when I sitdown. If I didn't drive it, my Homeowners Association would declare it a derelect and have it towed... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Other than that, I am ready to enter the 'B' in a Concours competition. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
