Final 47 miles without a breakdown- countdown to Amos.
I am about to make, what I hope is, my FINAL test
drive in the Crypt Car!!

I am hoping to have Amos parked in my former crypt,
later this afternoon. I am hoping DPO Pedro is but an ugly
spirit that drifts over my house.

wish me luck!!

regards,

dale

Dale: :winner1:

GOOD LUCK BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see a picture of your smiling face when it reaches the milestone!

Dave :savewave:

Geez Dale, I don't know about that paint, looks kinda faded to me. Never know when it might just start to flake. I'd repaint that puppy if I were you.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO.....NO more galldurn, dagnabbit, goshdarnditall, frabanashin', gabberflastin', intarnashion and anything else Yosemite Sam might say TEST drives!!!!!!!!!

Amos is HEALED!

Crypty has passed on! Crypty is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! He's pushing up the daisies! His mechanical processes are now history! He's off the island! He's kicked the bucket, He's shuffled off this mortal highway, run down the expressway and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

THIS IS AN EX-CRYPT CAR!!

Long live Amos, Dale & Wendy!!!!!!

(And my apologies to Monty Python! )

<span style="color: #660000">Peter! I can see you up at the front of the
LCB church preacing the funeral service of the Crypt Car.

There was not a single tear shed this afternoon at 1:48 PM
AST, rolling along highway No 3 at 55 mph., when the Crypt
Car's odometer clicked past 999 miles driven without a
breakdown and Amos suddenly took control. A fantastic 5 hour,
160 mile, scenic, hard driven drive today !!!!
(The Mrs a bit ticked off at the 5 hour absense.)

As the odometer clicks past 999, immediate thoughts of bygone
days of "Ropa driving take over, Dale stomps Amos's brakes,
downshifts into 2nd and punches the gas pedal to power drift,
with all wheels screeching, thru a fierce 120* right turn off
the highway onto a tiny road as Amos zooms off towards the mountains.
Amos is a twisty road, no guard rail, mountain TR6. Amos like 2nd
and 3rd gear at 3500 rpm - seems to be his sweet zone. Crypty (R.I.P)
was a 5 mile radius from garage, Sunday afternoon car.

RIP Crypt Car
RIH DPO Pedro

OK:
Let me get this straight. Today you went out to get AMOS over the 1000 mile mark without a breakdown.
When all was well, you kept on driving, TRUSTING THE CAR AND YOUR WORK, for another approximately 100 miles.
All in all, you went 80% of the Enduro Run through the PR mountains, without a hitch.
The only downside is WENDY"S anger at your being out too long!
Well, well, well.

I think large quantities of beverages are in order, and before anyone else says it, WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats :winner1:

Dave, Annie, and the Kittens. :savewave:

That & emptying the trunk of all the useless weight he's got in it! Or, as they call it in the boating world, "Ballast"!

A stem of Merlot is by my side as I type this.
Maybe 45 minutes spent in hairpin turns today.
The Enduro will be maybe 3-4 hrs of hairpins.

I pushed the TR6 in the hairpin turns today maybe 80%
of what I would have pushed the "Ropa." Had a wheel
not blown off my TR6, I'd have pushed harder today.
The engine certainly had the power for it and the new
tires gripped like Gorilla glue. I was lacking in the
cajones department.

From the day I first replied to your thread about the clutch, and all that has followed, I've looked forward to the day when this car would be what Wendy first thought it would be.

I'm so happy for you, I'll go get a glass of wine and pretend we're drinking it together. This is a good day.
Please make sure Nick Morgan knows about this special event. He has been your biggest fan right from the start.

:grouphug:

To You and Wendy !!!

Dearest David and family!!

I told Wendy exactly that, upon my return this evening.
I now drive the TR6 Wendy bought me, three years ago.

I never thought my cell phone would stop ringing today. And I was in a meeting that I couldn't answer the calls, but the miles of smiles were evident in all of the voice messages that Dale left for me.

Congratulations Dale. Keep the hood closed and keep driving.............

And Dale......EMPTY THE DANGBLAMMITALL TRUNK FOR CRIMMINIES SAKE!!!!!!
