to upgrade or not?

My engine needs to be rebuilt. I am waiting to find out if the block can be honed, or if it needs to be bored. So...a couple questions whilst I impatiently wait.
1.I understand that K-N filters let the B breathe much better, but the carbs need a different needle? Is there any advantage to using the K-N filters that fit the B cannisters? Do the carbs still need a different needle?
2. The folks at Brit Tek write that the 45D distributor is better than the original 25D. Anyone have any experience with that swap?
Thanks, Paul

Go for it...........Performance upgrades start with breathing in and out.

Pretty soon you'll be saving yer lunch money for Carrillo rods. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

About the K&N's - it depends on some degree on your carbs. The filters that fit in the cans usually do not need new needles, they also dont give much more if any performance improvement.
The taller filters with a cover plate usually need AAA needles unless your needles and jets are worn enough to allow a richer mixture.

Performace improvement?????? Yeah, it "feels" better, but I would doubt a measureable differnce. Changing the needles in HIF carbs is easy- you will need to retune!
