To tilt or not to tilt -questions for BE

Well having read the archies and other websites these are questions I'm trying to get answered in deciding whether to go 'tilt-forward' on my 59 BE:

(1) Will it work with bumpers, without bumpers or both?

(2) Do I need some sort of strap to hold down the bonnet?
If so what are the best to use?

(3) Who makes the best kit? Can I make one myself if I don't have access to metal cutting & welding Equipment?

(4) What is the meaning of the universe?( Doesn't hurt to ask).

All opinions and suggestions are welcome.

You can make your own out of aluminum plate if you are good with a hacksaw, drill, and file. And yes you can retain the bumper.

I made my own forward tilt setup using parts from the scissors hinges off a 69 Midget.
I have 2 cables to keep it from falling to far forward, attach them to the headlight pod screws.
My 59 has Dzus fasteners but they don't hold up well when you hit a bump, the spring clips bend monthly.
The 69 has hood pins which mount where the old scissors hinges were.
Also I used a rod as the front hinge with hair pin clips for quick removal of the bonnet. A 5 prong Lucas bullet connector makes for quick disconnect of the bonnet wiring too.

Plans for tilt-forward hinges are available on the internet. I found mine at gerardsgarage.com, making a few slight modifications of my own along the way. These plans do not need a cable to limit forward travel, and can be used with or without the front bumper.

I went for the retro look and made bonnet hold downs from leather belts purchased from a men's store.
