to swap or not to swap...

Update if anyone cares,

I found a 2.3l ford OHC (non efi  ) for $70 locally (relatively low km, and a bunch of new stuff) which ill likely be getting, ive already got access to a mustang 5 speed which would only need a light rebuild. This would give me a solid 100-150hp without doing anything crazy to the car.

Parts and everything would end up somewhere in the $400 range, give or take a hundred. This gives me the opportunity to get a running car faster and and cheaper which I can the take out and enjoy, while I save up some scratch to get my current spit engine cleaned and rebuilt professionally.

Nice find.

Does it have a gearbox attached? How are you planning on fitting that, or will you make an adapter for the Spit bellhousing? Hint - the later is not a small job...

Keep us posted.

Well, I haven't made much progress (exam season :cryin: )

My grandfather had the transmission on hand, it just needs a bell housing and a light rebuild.

I will be starting more extensive work on the car by the end of the month. I hope to have a finished rolling chassis by September.
