TR4/4A To Surrey, or not to Surrey

Question to all. Does an aftermarket Surrey add to, or subtract from the value of the car? I have a backlight and can't decide between it or going roadster. I have a good top frame and proper rear upholstery but would need a top and new cappings. The Surrey would need a center section so a fair expense either way so the overall finished value plays a part. The goal all along with this car was to sell when complete and get back on my TR3.

Definitely adds to value....Is it a "Honeybourne" or other aftermarket back light?

Other. Manufacturer unknown. It does have the full size plexi in it. I've seen some that seem to be undersize.

If you can post a pic of the backlight, someone on here will know the make.
Try to buy a hard top for it, or a soft lid frame and top.

I have been considering HT or surrey top and still on the fence. Personally I think the soft top surrey does not look good at all, prefer the hardtop, but there is no where to stow it unless you remove it at home and then carry an umbrella just in case. Leaning more toward an aftermarket fiberglass full hardtop for the winter months here in the NE.

I agree. The soft top is kind of homely. There was someone a few years ago trying to develop a 2 part hardtop that could be stowed but never heard any more.

Well I went with the Backlight last year with hard and soft tops from a UK suppler and got paint from Touch Up Direct. Hard top for Reno winter and easy storage summer soft top fits in boot. I also made a car cover when top is off and parked outside. Cover is made from outside seat mat. UV and water proof. It is held on with snaps on door and front tab held with hood. east store in bag.
As for resale more is better options for buyer. Most of the year my top is off and with the side wings added hat stays on.
