Just to reinforce Basil's rule regarding politics on the board, a colleaugue recently forwarded a political cartoon or caricature that was poking fun at a certain contender for the presidential nomination. It was addressed to a number of her friends of all persuasions and backgrounds.

One, in particular, took great exception to this, hit "reply all" and sent an e-mail detailing why she found the cartoon offensive and in very poor taste.

The kicker is that the "offended party" had no intention of supporting this candidate.

She has not returned and e-mails or phone calls that my co-worker has made to her since then.

We should constantly thank Basil for his policy of "No Religion, No Politics" on these boards, whether or not we are itching to comment on issues of the day.

Amen!

Oops, uh, er, I mean Right On. Or is that Move On?

Oh well, I agree....

We only discussed religion and politics when we were sophomores (wise-fools) in college.

Tip-toeing that fine line without going over is the fun of it!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I've written this before here, but this very rule is one of the reasons I'm still here after so long. Civilized discussion that may walk up to the line, but doesn't cross it.

Some days I wish our politicians would be bound by this same rule -- no politics or religion allowed in discussions. Then they'd either have to say something meaningful or say nothing at all. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I suspect the latter Drew {Nothing at all} I think They`ve forggoten the meaning of meaningful.

I've gotten several of those cartoons, many of which were hilarious. But, I won't post any of them here. I may PM them to some members, but nothing goes on the forum.

Yes, it's amazing how some people will get bent out of shape over a cartoon. They are all for freedom of speech, freedom of expression, but only as long as it agrees with what they think.

Best not to even post anything potentially divisive.
