Tires Squeaking on Curves

Rear tires slightly squeak in curves, even if I drive very slowly. In my opinion there is something wrong with the differential. It feels like the diff is locking or blocking a bit. What could be the reason for that?
 
There are four small, bevel gears in the differential. Maybe something came loose and is jamming one.

First test is to lift the rear end on jackstands, release the parking brake, and try to rotate one of the rear wheels by hand. If the other rear wheel rotates in the same direction as the one you are rotating by hand, the differential is locked. If it rotates in the other direction, it's working.

Thank you very much for your suggestion, which makes a lot of sense to me.. I will test it as soon as I can and will come back then.
