I was wondering what is a good size of tire for a 76 B. I belive 165 SR 14 are standard. Any suggestions would be helpful. I just got my B and the tires are shot.

The '76 , being a rubber bumper car, is an inch higher than the chrome bumper cars so could probably run the low tires with less problems than I do. The only place mine drags is like I said on speed bumps and also some steep driveways the tail pipe scrapes.
The 185/65 sounds like a good compromise.
Right after I bought the last set, I ran an autocross and won in my class and with the old ones, I didn't even come close. They made a big difference there. The old ones were Sears Sport radials that were quite old and hard and the new ones were Dunlops with much better grip. So that was a factor along with the size difference.

I was in a similar situation and ended up buying a pair of Yokohama Avid T4's 175/70R14. Overall size is very close to the 165R14. You can't run them quite as hard as a Michelin, for instance, because the sidewalls are somewhat softer, but they sure soak up the bumps better! A great touring tire but maybe not quite up to autocrossing. Bob

I have a '72 and it had 175/70R14's on it.(I bought it used) I ran those for years and eventually switched to 195/60R14's.
It depends on what you want. I chose the wider lower profile tire to get more rubber on the ground and lower the car slightly to run an occasional autocross race. You can go wider without the lower profile and have a car that will have more traction both for braking and in the corners and also give you a little more cushion in the ride. I also like the lower wider tire for looks.
If you go the low profile route, you will have to be careful on speed bumps as your muffler will lightly scrape if you go slow and probably be taken off if you go fast.
Also, if you keep the non-low profile, you might limit the width to 185. Mine scrape slightly at full turn but the only way I knew that was the marks on my sway bars.
