Tires and Wheels?

Finally got my 59' 100-6 on the road after two frustrating (and rewarding) years working on it.
Question: My wire wheels are pretty sad and I purchased a set of MiniLites a while back that I'd like to try. My tires are 165 SR 15 and the the MiniLites are labeled 15J and measure 6.5 inches wide on outside. Will my tires fit these wheels and also will this setup fit within wheelwells? Thanks, Eric

HI Eric,
The first question I'd ask is what dates are stamped on the tires? If they be too old, I wouldn't even consider using them. I'm not sure what size the Minilites are, probably 5½", I think that is too big for the 165s anyway.

Eric,

I have 15" X 6" Superlites on my '57 vintage racer and although it's lowered I think I would have problems with 6.5" wheels. The offset and back spacing are the important measurements to confirm. I would check the age of those tires also. Most of our club members are running 185's or even 205's on there street cars.
