Dad's got a new set of 5.5 minilites to go on the car and i was wondering what size tires any of you MG'rs are running.......I,m thinking 185/70/14 or 175/70/14....Any help appreciated /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

I'm running 195/60R15 on 15x5.5 rims. They fit nicely. Any wider and most MGBs will have clearance issues. 185/65 or 70 are nice on a 14" rim.

I've got 205x60R14's under one of my cars...185x70R14 under most

I used to run 175X70R14 but started doing a little auto crossing and went to 195X60R14 and my cornering improved and it lowered the car some. The only thing I have to watch out for are speed bumps. The mufler will scrape now but over all I am very happy with that size. I think they look nicer too. A lower more racey look. With minilites would look great.

The correct size was 165R14 for the 68 and later cars. The 185/70R14 is a very close match. It would work well on a 5.5 wide rim. There are lots of choices in the 185/70R14 tire size. For those running wires 175/70 14 is a better match due to the narrow rim width.
