Tire dressing

John, I used some of the aerospace 303 protectant on my top and tires. The top really looks good. I must say that it looks better than when I wiped it down with armorall. The product claims a high UV protection so if for no other reason, I'll keep using it. UV rays and ozone are supposed to be the big factors that cause both rubber and vinyl to age. And for Roger, It didn't sling off into the fenders but I wiped it down fairly well. Using brake fuild on tires would probably be better than a lot of products, but it probably doesn't have any UV protection since they didn't plan on sunshine getting into the internals of the brake system.

Thanks to those who offered their insite here.
Today I tried 303. Great product! Thanks Ed!
Does not spin off, leaves a nice matte finish.
Exactly what I was searching for.

303, Very informative site too.
Cheers all, Roger

Ed ... Roger,

Glad the 303 is working out for you. It does leave a nice finish and restores flexibility. I have an original windshield washer bottle that felt rock hard and was concerned it would crack. I sprayed the inside and outside occasionally over the course of a month or two and the material now feels like new (it still has a yellow discoloration but can be squeezed like a roll of Charmin). I use 303 as a lube when installing grommets, windshield seals, etc. and figure it will help protect the part after it is installed.

I also tried the 303 fabric spray on a new car cover that I use on my Saab that gets parked outdoors all the time. The last cover disintegrated from the sun so it will be interesting to see if the treated one lasts longer.

o.k. sounding too much like an infomercial .. but I do like the stuff.

Cheers,
John

Back in the 1960's I used to use black shoe polish applied with a brush, just as to your shoes.
Lasts a long time and a nice matte black, but time consuming compared with the other suggestions.
Simon.
