timmers 67, push rods and lifters

The push rods can be lifted out after the rocker shaft with attached rockers is removed. The lifters are accessible when the cover plates on the passenger's side of the block are removed. A magnet stick might be helpful to get the lifters out. Make sure when you are reinstalling everything that each push rod is properly seated in its rocker as you torque the rocker shaft fasteners down, or you can bind up a rod between the lifter and rocker and bend it. Torque the fasteners slowly and check the push rods carefully.

Do you have a BJ8? If so, is it in the BJ8 Registry?

Hi Timmer , replacing the push rods is one thing but replacing new lifter and running them over an old camshaft is not a good idea . You could look at it as a matched set . I could go into a long , drawn out discussion but in short , new lifters on an old cam could grind down the lobes on that cam real quick . I hope this helps . Good luck .
