Timing Pointer

New owner needing some input. Has anyone moved or mounted a second Timing pointer on a 948 bug eye? Mine is a race car with a front tilting hood. With the hood open it is extremely hard to see the timing marks and the pointer. If you have either moved the pointer or added a second one to a more convenient place directions/part used and photos would be a big help.

Does it have the original 948 crank pulley, or a harmonic balancer?
 
Works slick too. I've got a front tilting BE Bonnet on my '68 Bugsy. Scale is designed for a Harmonic Balancer I do believe but if nothing else gives a good visual reference once you get TDC established.

If pulley is clean and non rusty, clean the pulley with alcohol swab that comes with the kit and then install the scale. I had issues with scale not sticking due to some crap on my harmonic balancer so once I got in place I coated wit hclear spar varnish to seal the scale from the elements and to make sure it would stay stuck.

You can mount a pointer to the top side of the chain cover, sheet metal fab attached with the cover bolts. I usually do it to my personal cars with a single pointer. Best to index TDC with a dial indicator. I file new TDC line on the damper and notch the 10* BTDC using a degree wheel too. Then fill the notches with white paint.

I expect Hap's set-up is a bit more sophisticated but the above works for me on street cars.
