Timing gun hook-up

In the past when I've set the timing on my '76B I ran extentions for the pos and neg leads on the gun to the batery. Is there any reason why I can't just grab a terminal on the fuse block for the pos and use the block for a ground? Thanks, Mack /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
 
Sure you can. An even simpler way is to run the timing light off a battery charger. Bob
 
On cars like my Mini the battery is in the boot. I hook my light up to the hot terminal of the starter solenoid and the block. It works great.
 
I usually run a jumper cables from the battery to the gun on both the MGB and the Alfa (trunk mounted) too.
 
I just pull one of the connecters off on the brown circiut on the fuse box and clip the clip onto the exposed area of the fusbox connection
