The new oil seal for the front cover slid right in with hardly any friction. It's not falling out, but I can't imagine it's very tight.

Do I need to buy a new one?

(I'm not sure the damper/pulley collar holds it tight enough, but I suppose I could add some silicone).

Or, do I just cool my jets and order a new seal.
 
Not much of anywhere it can go as I recall, but you don't want it to leak out around the outside of the seal. I'd probably glue it in with Permatex Aviation, but silicone RTV should do.
 
If the OD of the seal is off, the ID could also be a problem. This is too hard to get to, so I'd find one that fits correctly.
