I have the timing chain cover off my motor chasing down an oil leak. Think I have found that. It seems the aluminium plug in the oil gallery may not have been sealed properly. There was oil between the mounting plate and block in that area. Also the plug came out with very little effort.
When I was reassembling the motor I noticed there is some wear on the inside of the timing chain cover caused by the end of the chain tensioner spring. The end of the spring was digging into the cover.
I have ground a bit off the outer corner of the spring. Not sure if this wear is new or was there before I rebuilt the motor.
Ant ideas? I have thought of welding it up.
