Do I not see an indentation in the crank gear one tooth to the right of the line???
 
That timing set-up looks right to me.

I don't recall if I said this or not, but the teeth on the sprockets are such that you're marks either line up or they are noticeably off. Ther is no "close." If you're marks will more or less line up on a straight edge, you should be good to go.

I used the marks to time mine then used a degree wheel to check my work. Turns out the marks where dead on.
 
Mark's B and C are used for correclty orienting the sprocket. Marks A and E should line up such that a straight line will pass throught the both marks and the centers of the crank and cam.

I don't know what mark D is.


PS. This is a 1500. Please don't confuse JP by giving him advice for an A-series.
 
I assume the engine is a 1500?

Do you have a clearer picture than the one you posted in the formum that you can email me?

From you picture that you show is that where the correct allignment is for correct timining?

For the camshaft gear in the upper lefthand hole, does the hole align up with a slot on the camshaft?
