TR4/4A Time?

I have been around the Forum for a bit of time. You folks out there know what it's like being a custodian of history.
I believe it will be 12 years since I brought Ruby home. I'm not posting this without due diligence.
I want a good home.
There hasn't been a Triumph mechanic in Des Moines for years, it's on me.
Values of 67 TR4A have been all over the map for the last year.
Basil, help!

Hi, Winston -

Kinda difficult to tell from your post, unless I'm missing something... are you wanting to sell and looking for guidance on pricing?

If you want to sell , put some pictures up so we can all have a look at her. There are some pretty nice TR4As on the market now @ $25,000 - 30. As with everything else the quality could vary greatly between similarly priced cars.

Thanks for the input, the car photographs very well, the engine bay is pretty original, brakes and tires newish.
This car is a prospective restoration car.
That being said, I am seeing $5000.00 asking prices nationally for this level car, could that be a practical starting point?
Aside from a professional appraisal I'm a little lost. I'm also concerned the fact that there is no mechanic in the city to keep up with regular maintenance.
I will post pics.

I think you are on the right track now by looking at what is advertised and comparing you what you have. Spring is a great market and brings out a lot of cars.

Check at the local Auto parts stores for recommendations for a local independent mechanic. One or two names will come up multiple times.
That is how I found the guy that works on my cars doing things that I don't want to do or don't have the time/equipment to do. I will get him to check the tracking on my TR3 when I get to that point.

The calibration of time is a social construct. Speaking in years could be used because of the rotation of the earth, but there has to be consideration for the leap year or wobble. We would perhaps be more in tune if we followed the rising and setting of the sun. but, Again that would depend on our geographic location. However, for most in Western Culture, we toss caution to the wind and work 40 calibrated hours, regardless of geographical location. When the West joined time and the making of money is when the banking system flourished and many were held prisoner to the man because of interest. But a real nice TR4 should bring 20K, but a super nice one with real low miles would bring more.

Well folks,
I went ahead and put Ruby on the market. Two dealers called. Disappointed to say the least. I guess she'll have to stay East of Omaha.

I'm still not sure what you are saying? Ruby is going to a dealer, coming off the market, or still up for sale? I feel like I'm reading Haiku, and I never understood that either.

Where was the car listed? Mentioning here on the Forum that a car is for sale is not prohibited and often a good idea.

Joe Alexander of Alexander Racing located in Jesup IA is not too far from you and would likely know of any reputable TR mechanics in your area. You could Google him to get a phone number or email address.
