I am thankful for many things this year. Oct 2009 my home shop was finally approved after hemorrhaging money for a fricken year,Love the 50ft commute! Our new dog Bella,saved from the Humane society. A triumph Tr3 I restored a few years back made the Oct 2009 issue of Triumph World as a feature. made the scary move from my shop location of 7 years to home and had enough work to make the transition. I am just very thankful as blessed as I am. I wish the rest of you out there a most exellent New Years 2010!!

It's been catastrophic here but I'm encouraged with Vern's transition to "low overhead" and th' smooth transition!!

I have never been happier to see a year put to rest! In June my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers. David lost his job in July, we are hanging by a thread. But the good news is....January 2010 David starts a new job, I am going to be working with an intern teacher this spring (my 1st ever) and Mom is on new meds that seem to be helping. Here's to new beginnings and a new year. Things are looking brighter on the horizon.

I think 2009 was a hump for most, I had my fingers crossed all year for sure. And they aren't uncrossed yet....
 
I always think at this time of a few words of wisdom shared with me on New Years past.

1988 my wife was pregnant and due at anytime at Ft Benning and I was sent to the national training center in Death Valley and I remember sitting on top of my tank talking to my gunner telling him it was the worst New Years of my life but remember his words that went like this, "Sir, you have a beautiful wife who loves you, you are soon to be a father, what could be better"

1989 I remember sitting in Saudi Arabia waiting to cross the berm into Iraq during Desert Storm talking to my same gunner whining it was the worst New Year of my life as my wife and young son were home without me and I had not spoken to them in 3 months. he reminded me of where we were the year before and told me "Sir, you have a beautiful wife and son, they are at home thinking of you , what could be better, we will be home soon"

I have been many places for New Years but those words of wisdom from my gunner always stuck with me. The bad times of the year past may stick out more than the good but focus on the good stuff.
 
Howdy Folks & Happy New Year to All,

For myself, 2009 has been interesting. I took a beating on selling my house in NE PA. The good news is; I`m in the "Up-State NW SC" area. Met a bunch of really nice folks. Bought a TR3 Project which is coming along nicely.

They (Whomever "They" are); Are saying the economy is improving. Well; Someone please tell me "Where & In what Sector"! It surely is`nt in Manufacturing; Which this Country needs desperately!

Whats the outlook for 2010; Your guess is as good as mine???????????????

That's an *excellent* point.

I am lucky enough to be the son of two of the most optimistic people on the planet.
And yet they've had harder times than almost anyone I know.
Even now, in failing health and in their 80s, they "focus on the good stuff" and look forward to every day.
They are a pleasure to spend time with.

Focus on the good stuff, folks! That's what really matters anyway.

I'm at the age that every year is "A good year". Hopefully this is the year that sees my project on the road and I can start attending LBC rally's and events.
As I look back on this year I think about what I have accomplished and the LBC folks that I have met and in many cases become friends with and know it's been a great year.

I guess that it's been good enough, or as good as it was going to get if we're still here posting. Hopefully, next year we can all post more positive thoughts. Until then, hang in there and stay healthy.

For me 2009 could have been better... still on the hunt for employment but the good news is that I'm still here and able to look!
Spent the holidays with my two kids and soon to be daughter-in-law... so I guess I'm doing OK.

Hey I'm in the had a great year category. After being apart for 24 years I had the garage space and cash to do the body and paint the "Baby Car" as named by my daughter now 27. There is still a lot of renewing of parts to go, but hope to be out tooling around this summer. I used to joke to the kids when they were approaching the time to get their drivers license, that I was not going to put the car back together until they were grown and moved away. Be careful what you wish for.

I have been spending the past 6 months looking at colleges for my son (Texas A&M, THE Citadel, VMI, Norwich and James Madison) He had interviews at each for scholarships so each trip was at least 4 days long. Combine that with other scholarship interviews, a vacation, the Presidential Inaugriation, the G20 it was a busy year. Then add in my daughter learning to maintain her car and drive, the drama of them in high school, I do not know where the year went. Thanks for noticing my absence
 
My childhood cat of 15 years pasted on earlier this year. My other cat of two years dropped dead in mid-play while I prepared a thanksgiving desert... ...and during christmas morning I watched my moms neighbors house burn to the ground. I'm thankful that it wasnt my moms house that burned. I am also thankful that I didnt know those people, because it would be even more depressing if I did. I dont know about pets, photos, or heirlooms, but I heard they all made it out safely as they were getting ready for church.

...oh, but it did snow. I think it was the first recorded blizzard in TX history. While I didnt wish for a white christmas, that was kinda cool.

So I guess Im thankful for that. Also thankful that we werent one of the 20 vehicles abandoned in the ditch from driving in that mess.

On the topic of strange weather, we experienced our first tornado this spring, which was spotted just a block away. So Im thankful that there was ZERO damage to our house, not even a single tree limb fell. I am thankful for all the firewood I got from everyone elses limbs. (It took the city a month to clear the debris) I am thankful my moms house had no damage, but she was without power for several days, several trees were twisted right out of the ground, and she lost her decade old fence. But luckily insurance bought her a brand new fence, which she needed for a while, and even covered all her spoiled food that went bad due to lack of power.

Other than that, I am thankful that no one else I know has died or was arrested.
 
Hello All, and best wishes in 2010,

I have to say that the best thing about 2009 for me was that I bought my 1957 TR-3. I owned a 56 TR-3 in high school and forgot how much fun this car really is. It was so much fun to finally get it running this summer and drive it down to the beach. Also I want to thank everyone here that has been so helpful in answering all my annoying questions. The advice I recieved has been invaluable. I'm very grateful to you all. Also thankful that I am still working. Looking forward to a better and more successful 2010.

I am lucky to work for a reliable and stable company and I am very thankful for that. This year I finally had the opportunity to get my father's TR3A. I rode in it all the time as he drove it daily for 20 years or so as I grew up. I am 45 now and drove it for the first time in July. It was and is the greatest thing ever. My dad Isn't able to drive it now and I look forward to getting him in it and driving him around. He has Alzheimer's and I feel won't be lucid for much longer. I'm looking forward to the coming year to work on my car, drive it and share it with my family.
 
It's been a mixed year here.Our oldest is serving on the
George HW Bush carrier,in Virginia,our middle kid is going
to college in Chattanooga,TN,struggling to get by,& our
Daughter (youngest child),graduated photography school in
Western Mass.,& got laid off of her job.
We have guardianship of our 4-1/2 year old Granddaughter,
who's a handful,making it hard to find time to work on the cars.
It's a mixed blessing.
We celebrated our 31st anninversary in May,& I have a Wife
that still loves me (I think).
I'm still collecting things,& trying to get rid of some of
them.Hopefully 2010 is the year I get organized.

2010 Looking forward to it. 2010 makes the winter months look brighter.Beeing able to work on my 55 tr2 feels great.Due to brake problems I was unable to drive it but this spring hopeful to go driving. Owning the car from 1955 with my father brings back great memories ,Ready to make new ones 2010
I hope every one can get their tr's running in 2010
