General TR Time to Put Your Tops Up?

For some of us anyway, forecast seems to be cooler with little chance of warming up. Three reasons to put it up, too cold to drive with it down, if your top is like mine it doesn't like to go up when it gets too cold, so better do it before winter hits, and lastly, I figure less chance of it shrinking to the point where it will never go back on again if it is stretched on and fitted.

I just mention this because I was out in the garage today and noticed the top was down, actually too cold today to get it up without a big fight, but I need to remember to put it up next week if it gets above 50f or so.

Same here. Flurries expected tonight and tomorrow.

And consider the irony of it being too cold to put the top up!

My top went up permanently two weeks ago. I had simply flipped it up without latching all summer and lowering it when I went for a ride. You people down south are lucky. Between the cold, the snow and the salt, mine doesn't leave the garage from the first snowfall until maybe late April.

I like to exercise my car a few times in the winter if I can, most winters there are a couple days here and there where the temperature is above freezing and the snow is melted off the streets, I usually don't do anything much to the car when putting it away (except of course putting the top up and sometimes disconnecting the battery) so it is pretty easy to get it out, charge the battery a bit, circulate the oil and other fluids a bit.

What top?

No tops up around here, big cold front came thru today and dropped the temp down to 75 (it's about time). I know what it's like to live in cold country, lived in NE Ohio for 40 years. I still think it's better driving back east than in AZ though.

I put my top up in June and left it there until a few weeks ago -because the sun is too hot. Now that its cooled down, I have the top off again. It will stay that way until June unless I think I might be in the rain. I prefer top down, with a jacket (hat, gloves, scarf, etc) on over too hot for the top down, any day (or night).

Hi All, Welcome to Daylight savings time "LOSS"!! Personally, I hate it!!!!!!!

I went to put up my top last wk. as the temps were in the low to mid 80s! "NICE"!! Top went on like butter to my surprise since I have`nt had it up since March. This was just a test fit. It did`nt stay up!!

Yesterday, Nov. 1st, we had that cold blast as most of us had across the eastern seaboard. We had temps around 50deg F. which is about 20deg. below the normal. Did`nt go into the garage to put the top. Too darn cold & windy as all heck.

Today, Nov. 2nd, We`re supposed to be in the Mid 50s & Sunny. Top is going up!! Extended forecast is Sunny & 70deg by Thurs.

I`ll be out & about all wk. putting more miles on my TR3. Approx. 3K this yr. so far!!

Happy, Warm Motoring.

Russ

I took my 6 out today (top up!) and receive a backhanded compliment. A stranger told me I had a nice "Fiat". Grrrrrrr

Wow, Fiat, that is a first, I have had lots of Triumphs and Austin Healeys that have been "MGs" but never a Fiat.
