Time for the TR4 Update

Some of you will remember that I trailered this car home last spring. Professional restoration begun 14 years earlier and then stopped after the frame, engine and trans were completed. I had no idea how many parts were missing!

A good auto electrician could probably finish the car in a day. Basically its just the lights that need to be connected. I still have the orginal seats for you purest. Lots of little things to sort. Have a look!

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Aloha Larry,

Good looking car. I like the look of the wheels.

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Beautiful job Larry!

Congratulations!

I'm going to hang that top picture in my garage for inspiration.

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

That is awesome. Who did that body/paint work? Is the transmission an overdrive? What kind of plug wires are those? Wheel and tire size? And make? Finally, that's a surrey top--what kind?

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Very nice Larry. Don't we all have those 'little things to sort'??????
I'm having on-going electrical problems with my 6. Finding an auto electrician with experience in British cars is becoming harder. When buying a new ignition switch this morning I bumped into a retired auto electrician who specialised in Triumphs. He luckily offered to go thu my car with a magnifying glass and track down the faults.....

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Very Nice Larry-

I think my TR4 is similar to yours - by color only. Quality-wise I'm way behind you. Are those MX5 seats? They look good with the surrey. I also like the color choice on the backlight, I am considering doing something similar, but white as I bought a white surrey top.

Start wiring it up!

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Thanks for everyone's comments. The seats are Miata seats from a 91 and then recovered. The surrey top is original, but the center piece was fiberglass. I decided to paint it black as that was an original color and my plans are to never really have the top on. The dash should be white, but wood was a common aftermarket item. I put a yellow fan on the engine, toyota calpers in the front. Here's a list of a few of the items I had to source: bumpers, guages, metal dash, heater, steering column, steering rack, anything smaller than a toaster...

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Awesome. what's next, a Spitfire, or GT6?

Re: Time for the TR4 Update

Larry, Women are fine, but we are talking Triumph cars here. I see a nice logical series forming: TR8,TR6,TR4,...,TR2?
