Agreed. Russert was the closest thing the Main Stream Media had to an objective journalist in my humble opinion. I always felt he was tough, but fair - to both sides! Honestly, he was one of only a handful of journalists I could stand to watch and feel they didn't have an agenda.

When my Brother-in-Law, Joe, died unexpectedly a few months ago, his father (80+ years young) had to bury him at Arlington. Talk about hard!

I agree Nial - Russert was what a Journalist should be - seeking the truth, no matter who he was interviewing. I always felt he was a very tough (but fair) interviewer and would not let people spin - on either side. I never felt like he was trying to just play "gotcha" with someone who might have been on the opposide side ideologically than he might have been. Not many of his counterparts can claim such objectivity (that is just MY opinion, I realize other will disagree and that's ok).

That seems to be a pretty universal opinion of him, Basil, from friends and competitors alike! So many of the tributes to him have been very moving! Perhaps his loss will in some way have an effect on the way the rest of his colleagues view their positions and in turn how they do their jobs! (One can always hope!!)
