MGB Tighten on the ground?

Need advice. Have both sides of front end together. Everything I have read says to put the car on the ground, bounce up and down, and then torque most of the bolts. Why not torque them now while I can get at them (its on jack stands now) ? On the ground tire and overall clearance will get in the way.
 
Suspensions should be snugged with all four wheels on the ground, bearing weight. This allow the parts to "assume their natural position'. Snugging up the parts while the car is suspended may keep parts from working properly/idealy...and can also lead to premature failure.
 
The basic idea is valid for all cars with similar rubber suspension bushings, not just ours. If you don't tighten them with normal weight, they will be stressed when they do have full weight on them, and the rubber usually just can't take it.
