OK. So I'm a cheap ... The tie rod ends are new, the rubbers are dry rotted and I wanted to save some money. Question: Is there a trick for getting them on?<br>So far I've wasted enough time that I could have bought new tie rod ends and come out ahead

Could they be aftermarket tie rod ends that don't take the same rubbers as original ones do? I've never had any trouble with them, just work the lip of the seal around the lip of the tie rod end.

I've seen "universal" covers at FLAPS that don't need to fit around a lip. In the "Help!" section.

Hey Randall, Good to hear from you. You are my go to guy.
The rubbers came from Moss #262-220. The old ones had spiral clips top and bottom. No provision for bottom clip on new rubbers. I can't seem to get the top lip with the spring clip in the groove. Pain in the as* . For $25 the sell both tie rod ends complete.
On another matter, can you weigh in on my question about where the chassis to motor ground strap is fitted?
Much obliged

Possibly similar to the 'universal' style Randall mentions.

Hi George
I think that I will use these universal ones. If the ends start to wear out, I can always replace them entirely later
Good tip

On a TR3, it's at the LH front motor mount, from one of the timing cover bolts down to the rear bolt holding the mount to the frame. I assume TR4/4A is similar, but not certain. (Photo courtesy Don Elliott)

motor to chassis ground

Unfortunately the TR4 has a different motor mount. I guess I can figure something out
