There is a loud thunk somewhere in the rear when going over bumps. I replaced the differential bushings two years ago and don't have that many miles on the car since that.

I refilled the shocks and cycled them several times but that didn't seem to help. I think I am going to order a set of shocks to see if that will help. Do I maybe need springs also? Anything else I should check or look at before I order.

I can't drive the car until I get the parts and get the clutch fixed so I have some time.

I rebuilt the front suspension last winter. New shocks, springs, bushings etc.
 
When you replaced the rear bushes , did you repair the brackets?
 
Have you checked the mounting bolts on the shocks to make sure they are tight? What about the mounts for the trailing arms... are they tight?
 
I'd drop the diff and have a look at the frame where it mounts. Very common failure point with TR6, and easy to overlook. For example: https://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/DiffMounts.htm

If the shocks moved smoothly by hand, I really doubt they are the problem.
 
I think I found the problem. I pulled the right rear wheel to check mounting bolts etc and found the top bolt missing on that shock. I hope that is the problem but it seems like nothing is that easy.

When I get the clutch back together I will check it out.
 
You pulled your clutch through the rear wheel well.
