You old guys will remember that in the days before cruise control, many cars had a "pull out & lock" knob that was attached to the carburetor.

This knob would allow one to set and reasonably maintain a constant speed while on the highway.

Anybody know where I can get one ?

Tim

Truckstop. They even have them with vernier adjustment (pull out for coarse and rotate for fine adjustment).

You do realize the potential for disaster here, don't you?

Either Morse controls in PA or Buyers Products have cables that will work. The company I work for sells both. PM or email me and I'll see what I can do.

Tractor parts, farm equipment store. Aircraft parts (Aircraft Spruce and Specialty catalog)

Thanks for all of the source suggestions. I'll start looking.

Randy... Should not be a problem. I just want it for the RV so's I can keep rolling if I need to use the "necessary room".

Seriously.... I've had mechanical throttles on 3 cars and I have an 8+ hour Miata drive coming up and wanted a "Plan B" in case I can't find a cruise control unit in time.

Update on Plan A

TODAY I successfully sold an un-needed Miata Dual Exhaust Muffler for enough money to go
TOMORROW and buy a proper aftermarket Cruise Control.

NOW, I won't need a locking throttle cable.
