Throttle shaft problem!!

I am rebuilding a HS6 carb for my BJ7 and hit a snag. On one end of the throttle shaft there is a "lost motion lever" that is held on to the shaft by a tapered pin. How do I remove the pin? Also, I looked at the shaft in the rebuild kit that I got from Moss and it doesn't have a hole thru it that will acommodate the pin. Anybody out there got any helpful ideas? Thanks,Mark

Hi to remove the pin you will require a small drift and drive it out.

On the new shaft a new hole and a new pin will have to be installed. To properly locate the position of the hole in the new shaft sandwich the old shaft and the new one together using the butterfly in the slots. The hole size will depend upon the roll pin diameter that you pick.--Fwiw--Keoke

AM I going to have to put this new shaft under my drill press?
Best way to dril an accurate hole.

When replacing the tapered pin should I instead use a split pin?
No use a roll pin

howdy,
just did my HD8'S, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE ALL TAPER
PINS WITH ROLL PINS. TIGHTENED UP ALL THE LINK POINTS NICELY
I.E. RESTORED FAST IDLE FUNCTION...
I ALSO REPLACED THE FIBER ROLLER @ CAM SHOE WITH NYLON ROLLER
