d. What would protect me in a rear end collision with an SUV? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

and the rear bumpers would definitely stop a 3000lb suv lol /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

No, you can't even say "beater" in the same paragraph with that. Very nice indeed.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

Very nice, looks like a lil meanie!

Some More Pics. I have had a great time putting this car together. Wait till you guys see my Dads Bugeye. The purists will most likely no like it, but its going to be a looker and a screamer.

VERY NICE SPRITE!!! Im headed in the same direction with my '65...except Im looking at pearlized white for the color on mine /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif What seats are you using?

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

Nice to see someone doing it differently, especially when it's finished as nicely as that! Is the engine still standard, or is it going to be a beast?

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

It is stock except for a swap meet weber and manifold, and a header and homemade 1 3/4" exhaust with a supertrapp muffler. I'm planing a 1330 or 1380cc motor soon.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

1380 sounds in line with the rest of the car! I'd recommend getting a donor block to build it on though, as not all a-series blocks are the same. I've seen several blocks get scrapped when boring out as the cylinder walls just get too thin.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

I will be building it on a spare block, I want to continue driving the car while building the new motor. I'm not sure about an aluminum head or cast iron though.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

aight im jealous. its a great looking sprite! Keep us informed on the replacement engine build. I'd like to do one myself but I cant decide which way I want to go...The threads on the turbo'd motor really have me thinking about a nice solid 1340 with a turbo and a Datsun 5spd.

Congrats again on the car!

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

I really like that. Looks loved and mean. I could find room in my garage. However, I just might not fit in the seats.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

Go with iron heads, much easier to work with. You checked the main Mini/Healey dealers for upgrades?

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

I was thinking aluminum for the lighter weight and the posability for higher compression ratio. Also I was told there is more "meat" for porting.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

First, awsome. Your car is just real nice. You might really think hard before going to the 1380, Vizard says it just doesn't work, but alot of that is old technoligy and if you think it will? Most of us worry about origionality, and I think you have gotten past that, I am really curious about a turbo car, because I didn't really see that as an option when I went with a supercharged motor. I've gone thru a breakin with mine and I am thinking about taking it to a chassis dyno to see if the motor is really making 120 horses.

Re: Thought some of you might like to see my Sprit

I hear the Rover K-Series is an easy install, you can get those with upto 190bhp off the shelf. Worth a thought...
