Thought of the Day

Or when living in a small town as a kid and the phone was a "party" line, so you didn't know if a call was even for your house....
Not too long ago, I lived in rural Minnesota and had a party line, with all the modern conveniences. Call forwarding? 2 longs and a short, I knew it was for me, no matter where I was. Voice dialing? I dialed O and could say things like call my father and would be connected. Voice mail? The operator would take a messages.

In 1950, children could get the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab—a kit allowing them to make nuclear reactions at home using ACTUAL RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL.
Someone figured out it wasn't a good idea and pulled it off the market the next year.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong?????

So they had a year for their kids to get nuked up? I wonder if they got their money back? 🤔

Couldn't be any worse than the chemistry lab I had that allowed me to make hydrogen sulfide if I remember right. I guess I should have done it outside.
