When I was stationed at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS, they had a very rare occurrence of snow on day in December. It was the first time it had snowed there is 9 years. It was a slight snow, maybe 1/2 inch. You'd have thought it was a deadly blizzard the way the people were driving.

And on the other side, here in OH back in 78 during the January blizzard the college I was attending was the only place open and holding classes during it. They figured that since the majority of students lived on campus, how hard could walking about be. The fact you couldn't see where you were going and the walkways were 2ft deep didn't matter. Took and order from the then governor to get us closed.
