When I take the granddaughter to school in the mornings, I literally see women dressing in PJ bottoms taking their kids to school. When did this become a fashion statement?

My next door neighbor's husband been doing that for years.
Now his sons have adopted the style.
 
I think it has been "in fashion" for a several years now. I even did it for a while when I was recovering from an injury.
You can be forgiven in the circumstance of recovering from an injury. Definitely not something I would do unless it was an extreme circumstances, but to each of their own, I guess.
 
Closest I've come is with WFH the last near 6 years is inside I tend towards sweatpants. If I'm actually leaving the house, then actual pants and shirt. No one want to see some old guy wandering around in "casual" dress. Might find myself with the "Sir, should we contact your family" sort of conversation...
