Having flashbacks of the time my son installed a stereo amplifier in his 1978 Datsun 280Z and burned every wire under the hood to a crisp. He had installed a special terminal tap on the + post of the battery and it came into contact with the hood. Found a used harness at a place called "Mr Z's", a local Z salvage yard that was local. The only problem was the "new" harness was for a manual transmission and my sone has an automatic, so had to improvise modifications to the harness to accommodate the transmission kick-downs etc. Literally spent all night in the Base Exchange parking lot replacing the entire under hood (and some under dash) harness.

I pulled the transmission on my wife's GT6 after disentegrating third gear. Interior out, tunnel out tranny out. Rebuilt and reinstalled same day, but forgot to plug hot wire to heater fan, which she used in hot weather as water was shut off. Anyway, I realized I forgot and it was too late to fix. Told her everything is good, but don't use fan. Well, I came home and GT6 was backed into the garage ( she never backs in ) and she ran out and told a bunch of smoke came out of dash. She forgot. She was a couple blocks from the house and as some kids were coming home from school, they pushed her home. Thankfully, I had and extra dash with wiring and gauges. Took me untill midnight to rewire the dash and ignition so she could take it to work the next day. I since have taped anything that would be a loose hotwire. Kids talked about it all summer.
