GARAGE, but I DO! :laugh: The city of Chicago has size and height restrictions for residential neighborhoods, with the height being restricted to 15 feet max. One of the houses in my area had an ingenious solution to the height restriction! They cut the peak off the roof leaving a small flat area on top. Now they have 12' walls and a TON of ceiling space inside. This means you could put 2 7' lifts and store 4 cars in the footprint of two! I WANT IT!! :laugh: Here are some pics...I apologize for the quality, cell phone camera.

Ours will go up as soon as tax refunds come back and we can get the city to issue the right permits.....

Isn't that a cool way they did that?? And it was the Mrs. that mentioned the lifts first! I am definitely gonna keep her! :laugh: Also ours is going to have a single garage door on the alley side at the rear for the in-progress car.....
 
Windows only in doors, you need all the wall space you can get.
 
Nice design!

I know there is one member of our local sports car club who created extra garage space with a lift, and built a garage as physically tall as possible, did a nice job of it in the end result

Me too. I'm moving into the city in the very near future and will be going carless for the near term, until I can work out whether or not the budget includes a parking spot on site. I refuse to street park my car, especially since I doubt I'd use it all that much during the week.
