TR2/3/3A those metal button trim pieces tr3

I am having trouble with those metal button trim pieces that go on the end of the door trim on a tr3. I have the new capping in place with a new sponge rubber piece and cannot get the button to stay on. In part, because the rubber is stopping the little clip from grabbing hold inside the hole and because the button is cheap quality. Is there a different supplier other than the big 3 and what are some options?

I remember having that problem also. I literally drilled out the rubber so I could get the button in.

I ruined one set...on the second (same poor quality), I used a deep socket that was exactly the OD of the button, contact cement, and shoved it straight in. So far it looks good and has not fallen out.

ditto. I think it's mostly the contact cement holding mine though.

At least repro's are avilable. I recall years ago when small parts were scarce seeing a TR3 with Buffalo Nickels stuck in those ends.

Didn't look too bad as I recall.
