gents,

i need a replacement oil pipe for my 1098 midget - for reference its item 136, above and to the right of the sump on this moss exploded view https://www.mossmotors.com/Graphics/Products/Schematics/SPM-001A_1.gif

no one has this in stock because apparently it isn't made anymore?

anyone know where i can find it? gotta go used? i still have the banjo bolt on the block end and the adaptor bolt on the oil filter end.

cheers

You can probably find it at Matthews Import Auto parts in Birmingham, AL or eBay. I think it's the same part on a 1275 and 1098.

They changed at least once and I think more than that. Spin on filter is different than the canister.

Kurt.

While you are at it you might consider going to a spin on oil filter. Handier and I'm quite sure that the whole assembly will bolt up to the 1098. Moss and VB will sell a kit to do that if you can't find the factory set up.

Kurt.

Hi Jake! Glad you dropped by again. I was wondering how things were going with the Sprite.

+1 on doing the spin on. I've never used the cartridge filters, but the spin-on is a piece of cake with these cars.

On my '69, it looks like the oil pipe was replaced by a rubber hose and the fittings attached to the hose. If you can't find the part, you could probably get a machine shop to make one and put the original fittings on either end. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can try fabricating it yourself.
