I know it's a rubber bumper but still

dual carbs - nice

check out the wind deflector - trying to figure out how it attaches.

attaches at the same place as the tonneau bar.

Is there a Tonneau bar for later Midgets?

I have a tonneau but no bar

Yes, you should have a tonneau bar...its the same bar from '67 to '80.

Actually, that is the morspeed wind deflector. It comes with its own brackets that attach to the same place as the tonneau bar brackets. Headrest cars did not have tonneau bars, but sometimes they had the brackets if they were fitted with a hardtop that utilized them.

That looks like a new one.

Wind deflector is simple to make. I found a MGB Tonneau bar and shortened it, drilled it and bolted a piece of Lexan to it for my own wind deflector. Worked fabulously in reducing cockpit turbulence. Top could go up and down with it in place and tonneau would fit under the bar. I missed the wind deflector as it would not fit when I put the roll bar into Bugsy. I added a pice of plexiglass attached to Bugsy's roll bar to accomplish the same.

Cockpit a lot less buffetting and lower wind noise and I can weara ball cap without worrying about it coming off on the expressway. Got pics I can send if anyone it interested.

Jim - you gave me a great idea! Thanks...I've got an extra Windblocker - the one Tom Rynne makes - for my MGB's...think I'll look at mdifying it to fit my little '63 Midget....would be a conversation grabber in Missouri, I think....

Trevor...I may be wrong, but I believe all Midgets left the factory with a bar....my '76 Midget has a tonneau bar in its trunk (it was there when I bought the car)!

Well... I guess I'm mistaken about the tonneau bar on headrest cars.

If someone could post a pic of what the tonneau bar even looks like installed, that would help me a lot! (and a closeup to how it fits onto the car)

thanks

Tony,

I sent you an e-mail with pics if you can post for me. I have not figured out how to post to this list yet as I do not have them as URLs.

didn't get any email from you....

Actually, I think he sent it to me... hold on

Here are a couple of pics

Thanks Trevor for Posting

Other details

This windblocker was made from an MGB Tonneau Bar that was narrowed / shortened 2”. Please note once installed there is a safety clip/pin that secures it in place so it is removable. Also the bar was notched just slightly so it would fit into the tonneau bar clip on the side of the cockpit. I added a backing plate of flat bar stock aluminum that the sandwiches the ¼” Lexan(not plexiglass) and I had to carefully drill the round tonneu bar so windblocker stayed completely straight. Much easier to do with flat bar stock if I was to do over again.

Procedure to remove/put up top.

Fold Seats forward

Pull Safety Pin on each side

Windblocker tilts forward

Top is raised

Side Bows clear windblocker

Windblocker tilts back

Safety clips pinned back in place

Seats returned to normal position

Windblocker can remain installed while top is up.

Neatly done, Trevor - & those look like Midget tonneau bars!
