Maybe I'm wrong but this looks funky to me. Front right suspension on the 73. I'm particularly disturbed by the clearance between the shock and the body.
Something beat the heck out of the engine bay from the other side by the looks of it. Maybe a massive supercharger on a crossflow head? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I Really wonder why this was done. I picked up a 73 GT a few months back and the exact same thing was evident. Someone clobbered the wheelwell and it sits right on the shock.
tons o fun. My plans of yanking the engine were dashed yesterday when I woke up with a nasty head cold. Today I felt well enough and my sense of smell was dull enough so I dropped the fuel tank. The tank still had 7 gallons of the nastiest smelling gas I've ever run into. Knock the buzzard off the outhouse 3 counties over kinda smell. Cant wait to get the tank boiled out and the old gas dropped off at the city's hazmat.
Lots of times its done so aftermarket headers/carb setups will fit....& since it doesn't hurt naything underneath, most folks don't worry about doing it....then we get to repair it!
