Long story short, the car hasn't been running right the past two times. Miss at idle, cough and spit every so often, A LOT more blow-by than normal. So, I pulled the plugs, #3 is smashed shut, but not beat up bad. I gap it and re install. Runs good, blow-by cleans up. I drive down the road and everything seems fine. I turn around, rev it a bit...TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP...:eeek: I ease back home, tap disappears. I rev and hold at 5K and everything is fine. Other than carbon I can't imagine what it ate. I've got close to 25K on my junk rebuild. I think I may pull the head to have a look and do rings, rods and mains if everything seems ok. IIRC, I may have had it lock upon start a month or two back but I can't remember for sure. Maybe I broke a piston, but I think that would have been below the top ring, not above it. I've got a good 1300 I can put in it. I've also ran this motor low on oil a time or two by accident and had LOTS of worn metal on my magnet last oil change. I know it's time to do something, but I'm not ready for that yet.

I mean hydraulic lock on start a while back, not from eating something. I thought it just may have been the battery as I hadn't ran it in a while. I may be thinking of the Lincoln too.
