third week of forced retirement....

This is not as easy as I thought it would be. Every day I have a goal of what I want to do, and every day 5 other things pop up. How did all of these things get done before when I worked? Just can't seem to make any progress on the things that I want to deal with..... Guess I'll figure it out eventually. :wall:

No doubt you'll hit your stride before long. I'm sure it takes some getting used to; looking forward to my turn!

I still have no idea how I ever had time to go to work. It also amazes me when someone tells me they found a part time job because they wanted something to do. I think people like that are telling me we have nothing in common.

Oh, I just came in from spraying a coat of paint on the top of the new fuel tank for my Midget. BTW, what day is it?

is that a retirement question or a paint fumes question?

I think that all of these comments about losing track of time and being busy are related to one thing.

You are all doing what you want to do now, not what you have to do.

I can't wait to join you........

This is basically the mantra I repeat repeatedly to my kids:

Do the things you have to do so you can do the things you want to do!

I think you're right, Mickey - it's just about hitting my stride and getting the rhythm of the day down. I looked forward to this for a long time, so NO WHINING ALLOWED! :yesnod:

It's really great to see folks enjoying their retirement. Most have earned it, the old-fashioned way (e.g., very hard work for a very long time).

I've had what they call a "non-linear" career, so I'll have to work a bit longer. However, I married over my head so maybe my younger wife will support me when I retire?

Hope springs eternal . . . :yesnod:

Now there is a goal! Good Luck with that.

Ditto.

39 years and counting.
No real plans to jump ship quite yet.

Always lots to do when retired. I volunteered with hundreds of my fellow citizens to clean up the mess from a tornado that hit the area little over a week ago. Thousands pieces of debris scattered in the surrounding area. I took the early shift, gonna hit a 100 today.

In my 41st year of working as a dentist and have no plans of ever retiring. Guess I look forward every day of going to work and causing pain.

Hi Doug, I remember you mentioning you had visited Billings some years ago. The MetraPark in the picture is a 12000 seat stadium used for various events such as rodeo, arena football, concerts etc. It is on the east end of town, you can see the Yellowstone river in the background. The pictures were taken from near the top of the 'rims' that surround Billings, actually near the road that used to host the Black Otter Hill Climb.

Thanks Mark,we might get to Helena in the middle of
September for our Niece's wedding.My Brother-in-Law lives
in Harlowton.
Man,I want to get back to Montana again. It's all about
the money at this point.
