Has no one explained diminishing returns to the young people who run front wheel drive vehicles with a rear spoiler?

Explain that to Honda. When my wife bought her '07 Accord, the one thing she wanted was leather interior. When one buys an Accord with leather, you gotta get all the bling because that is how they come...sun roof (never figured out the purpose of one of these things), nice trim, etc. And "whale tail" rear spoiler. They actually make two, one sedate and the other this bodatious ugly thing that you can't see out the rear window with. And they wouldn't/couldn't take it off because the hole pattern is different from the smaller one. At least I can identify it in a parking lot. And we wanted and got the 4-banger engine. The salesman tried to convince us that the wing made for slightly better gas mileage. I was born at night but not last night.

I agree it is ridiculous...my favorites are the 8 foot tall aluminum park benches that they install on the backs of Cavaliers, like some kind of JGTC or DTM reject...

That have dented the trunk lid where the weight of the wing sits...oh, & don't forget that little bumblebee buzz muffler!

Tony, you're forgetting the cute neon lights that pulse and change color to the beat of the "music!" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Top of the line road racing (Speed World Challenge Touring Car, BTCC) series utilize wings on front wheel drivers. With little weight in the rear of the car, you need the downforce that a wing provides to keep the rear from bouncing around. Bling ricers on the other hand... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

Even the mention of the word 'downforce' to one of them BoiRacers would bring a deer-inna-headlights look, certes.

The muscle car guys can't be left out either. Instead of the rapper blinged out looking guy driving a rice mobile, you have the middle age baby boomer type guy, who was probally a real dork when he was younger and now that he has the money to spend, he's now trying to be cool. You usually this type at cruise nights with real loud exhausts, revving the motor every chance they get. They too, like the ricers just read off parts (I think they just look at the stickers they have plastered all over the rear window). They also think just because it has a V8 that it is actually fast.

You also have the car collector types (there are exceptions), who have no idea what the car is or has except that it cost them a lot of money and is worth a lot of money.

I was at a car show and a woman and her daughter pulled in with a nice Austin Healey. I asked her what year it was and she had to check the registration.

...& the hubcaps that spin & change colors.....

I was going to do that to the Cortina -
Coffee can exhaust, huge wing on the back,22's all-
- around,etc.......
The only problem is that some young kid would
come up to me & say "Cool car,Dude".
