On ther side of my seatbelts it says, "do not remove cover". I had to 'cause my belt was locked up.

Upon removal.....SPRANGGGGGGGGGGGG. That big clock spring "sprung" but I caught it before it came all the way out. I got it back in and working correctly. I just goes to show you, no matter how much you think you know, heed the warning. I thought it was just there for liability reasons, i.e, don't remove the cover and render your seatbelt inop.

I think I'll wear ear and face protection next time I disobey a warning. YOu never know what's gonna jump out at ya.

Oh, by the way, they really mean it when they say, "Light fuse and get away!!!!!

I have been able to unlock mine in the past by changing the angle of the spools (or whatever you call them). If they are not mounted at the precisely perfect angle, they will lock up.

If you take apart the opposite side from the spring- and remove the bobbley thingydobob widget and it s related piece of plastic cog. The retractors will work and the inertia stops will still work and the angle they are mounted at will be less of an issue.

Make sense?
