The Plymouth Fury "Aero" steering wheel.

And it's not even a "wheel." :fat:

Love those dashes back then.

Push-button transmission. wow.

Cars were so much better back then, they even rolled off the assembly line with character.

Pushbutton was great until the control unit went haywire...no parts...had to figure out how to fix and adjust it. Lever "park" if I remember.
Edsel...middle of the wheel pushbutton....

John-Peter, we'll just have to agree to disagree. Except about the looking cooler part, they sure did look cooler.

I've always been partial to this dash, mostly because I fell in love with the rolling speedo as a kid.

One of my favorite dashes: The 1960 Buick Invicta Dash.
So much to look at. Speedo, warning lights and odometer are viewed by the driver adjusting the mirror. The gear selector looks like a gun sight. Ball handled levers for heat/defrost/air, and heavy chrome almost everywhere. Can clearly remember when friends of the family pulled up in their new convertible. As a 10 yr. old, I was in awe.

Or Ultamatic (Packard) in a pod off the side of the column...

Agreed  if only because it would mark the quickest end to a "discussion" in BCF history. :D

I much prefer Nial's layout: All business, as opposed to sitting on a living-room couch watching a big-screen TV. :smirk:

Love the pics....and know you guys will post more cool steering wheels soon!
We had the Great Race stopover in Mt Pleasant and a car show to go along with the event which showcased some awesome "wheels". One young lady told me that if cars today looked like cars of yesterday she could get excited about buying a car. We don't even have cool colors to chose from much less cool features that distinguish one brand from the other. Even high end cars have that "cookie cutter" look.
