These trash cans had better....

I heard about this yesterday. Trash Cash Talk :D

We have the cans like the first photo in that article. They're called "big belly" for some reason though they hold less. I watched someone empty one and it takes about 4 minutes per can. If it gets filled, it is a struggle to open. There is a solar panel on top to power an app that lets the city know to come by. Seems the real problem in SF is they don't empty the cans often enough. That's the problem here.

Another problem (not unique to SF) is that too many people don't even bother to use the trash cans in the first place! As I've posted before, every time I walk through the Smith's grocery store parking lot I pick up cups, cans, McDonald's bags, etc., and deposit in the trash can as I enter the building. There are trash cans all over the parking lot, but people are too lazy to walk 20 feet to use them! Grrrrr!

Ha! I stopped at a Carl Juniors for a burger yesterday for the first time in years, I'm not into burger joints but was hungry, and while waiting for my order I noticed just how filthy the floor was behind the counter! Well, needless to say, it'll be another many years before I go in there again, if ever! Wow, what a letdown. I understand Hardees owns them now, but that might be questionable as I never saw a Hardees anything but clean. Live and learn. :rolleyes2:

Agree on them not getting emptied often enough. There are also not enough cans. The sidewalks in SF are supposedly too narrow for most cans, although they don't seem any narrower than those elsewhere.
