Before you put your new thermostat in I would check it in water to make sure she opens when called to 180 or so if everything is up to par you should not have to run any other stat.

Almost fell on some ice this morning, plugged the block heater in in the truck as well, but didn't really need it. We lucked out last week: the major storm missed Calgary, but some of the highways in southern Alberta were closed (snow - kind of like rain, but you have to shovel it). Can you get a 212 F thermostat for a Sprite?

Seriously mid to upper 60's and sunny.
I did a little work on the old carb this afternoon, something is a bit sticky on the accelerator.

INTERIOR: GARAGE DAY THREE

Brought home new heat gun. Applying combination of heat, hammers and PB Blaster (not necessarily at the same time). Smacking housing. Smacking studs. Trying to figure out how I can remove stud from block rather than focusing on housing from stud.

Progress: very minimal. Can now see more of the mating surface moving when I wedge and pry using hammer handle between bottom of housing throat and engine number plate lip of engine block. However, fear of cracking the housing keeps my temptation to use extreme force in check.

Why is it that the most simple of tasks can become an epic grander than the Nibelungenlied so quickly and unexpectedly? WHY?
