The thermostahousing Drew sent me for his engine exitsa on the right side, so forget what I dais about this part before.
Jim, I found different application hoses in hose bin at the local part store to do what I wanted, in the 'new cool" thread where I showed the VW radiator in the Spridget race, all those hose were off the shelf different application. What I would do is bend welding wire or bailing wire in the shapes I needed, make sure of what Id I needed and head off to the part store, a lot of time you end up just cutting a section of a hose out to get what you want, occasionally I've got lucky and made tow hoses out of one, the big drawback to our hoses on Spridget is they are 1", but they will still be some 1" stuff to choose from.
I've made hose union too, don't use PVC, it won't work it changes shape when it hot, seen them blow off on a buddies racer, what the racers use is either steel or aluminum tubing, and I like to put a couple of small stitch welds toward the end of the tubing union to act as barbs for the hose clamps so they won't slide off. I seen my far share of unions slide off on race cars.
