Ready to replace sensor into orifice on side of radiator. Fitting is not turning freely, outer spring wants to spin while turning wrench. I've stopped fearing that will twist inner connection and break the fitting. How do I move ahead without damaging the part?

if you mean that the capillary tube is turning with the brass adaptor, then the only thing I can think of is soaking the end/fitting in a calcium/rust remover over here we have a product called CLR[calcium-lime-rust remover] which I think may work, failing that the other alternative would be to remove the gauge bracket so that it could turn as you install the fitting, good luck

Russ. I have that product . I'll do as you suggest. I do hate the idea of messing with the gauge but better than breaking the piece. Thank you. R
