Most of my family will be rooting for the Sox, but since the several trips to Coors field the last few years, and the fact that it makes my Phillies look a bit better, I will be very happy if the <span style='font-family: Impact'><span style='font-size: 17pt'><span style="color: #6600CC">Rockies</span></span></span> win!!

So, what was the deal with their manager, Joe Torre? Wasn't that what they wanted him to do, make the playoffs?
 
Tony, they fired Joe. He led them to 12 straight playoff berths, four world series titles, and they fired him I'm a third generation Yankee fan, but this is really hard to take.
 
I knew he refused to take a 1-year contract at a reduced salary...what I can't figure out is why, after his history & the playoffs, they moved him out...is that just Steinbrenner being Steinbrenner?
 
Yep, Steinbrenner (and sons) being Steinbrenner. They made him an offer that they knew he would have to refuse, to keep any credibility with his players. They gave him a salary cut, then offered him incentives if he made it to, and deep into the playoffs. It's like they thought he would try harder to win if there was a money incentive involved. The whole thing stinks.
 
I'd love to see the players just sit down until....
 
Yeah, the Yankee fans that support Joe dream of that, and many of the players are devoted to him (see Derek Jeter's comments, and Mo Rivera), but things like that don't seem to happen in the real world.
 
It was a deal but somewhat of an insult to Joe. I can see why he said go scratch. Maybe Donnie baseball will get a shot at it.
 
Today I heard that the world series is being played. Did not catch who is playing in it.

I'm a die hard Yankee fan, but even I could see that the sox were just way too powerful. Sox in 4 - no question.
