The XM radio in my 8

a slightly different problem I experienced trying to renew the XM I installed in my 8: THis is what I wrote to them in the comments category:

I have just lost 2 hours of my life I will never get back because I stupidly re-newed my XM account. I spent over 45 minutes on hold waiting to talk to a person. Once I got in touch of an account person she tried to tell me I owed 2 months of fees for services. I explained my ex wife had bought me the subscription along with one for her and it was a one year subsription, and when it expired, how would I owe money. She tried to tell me I had to pay the outstanding debt before I could renew both accounts. I tried to explain that I needed the accounts seperated and I would like to create a new account with just my radio on. She insisted I needed to pay both and only when I told her I would be changing to Sirius did she say she could change the account. I tried then to utilize an discount code I had to activate my account. She told me the code was not allowed to be used by a current subscirber and would not let me apply it to my account. Once I started to just complete my new account hoping to be able to apply the discount later I realized her grasp of english was less than perfect. Total time to renew my account 2 HOURS and 10 MINUTES.

What do you do?

I listen to broadcast and make CD's of what I like. Bad enuff I gotta 'upgrade' from 'obsolete' equipment every fifteen years or so (8-track, cassette, CDs)... I refuse to pay "access fees" for any "streaming" service, audio or video. BAH.

I'm in my Happy Place. Don't try to disillusion me. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

...can't hear it half the time over the engine/exhaust/wind anyhoo.

Turn the radio off and run a sidepipe into each ear. There ya go...V8 symphony in stereo!

Seriously though, anybody that's had to do anything with "customer service" has to sympathize with you but your case was nuts.

I gotta have XM in my family car (Accord). How else will I get Air America out here in the sticks?

Bummer that XM's customer service was so bad - that would have put me through the roof.

I'd have a hard time living (ok,ok, a bit dramatic) without Sirius - for me anyway it has made listening to commercial radio painful.

I can't stand commercial radio since I signed up for XM.

However, I did bypass the service for the TR6... But when picking out a new radio for my TR6, I did find one that included a cable to operate an iPod. Great way to get a wide selection of music, if I ever want it.

Right now, I'm looking forward to just listening to the engine.....
