How many have seen the movie, The worlds fastest Indian? I have a thing for true stories and movies that were made from them. I heard about this film and had to get it. It was so enjoyable, I had to watch it twice. Anthony Hopkins does a wonderful job of portraying Bert Munro from New Zealand, who had a dream about building a world class motorcycle racer. To me, the man was a mechanical genius. What he did with crude hand tools, probably most of which he made himself, is absolutely amazing. This man had a dream and with all the odds against him, he kept working on his project. If you haven't seen the film, I won't ruin it for you by going further. My only regret about seeing the film is, I never met the man and wished I did. I think his legacy should be, not just that he built the worlds fastest Indian, but that he portrayed the fact, that if you have a dream, and with enough perseverance, it will come true, no matter how the cards are stacked against you. The people of New Zealand should be proud, as I'm sure they are.
 
I like Hopkins but have not seen it yet. Is it a good family movie? Maybe I'll rent it tonight.
 
I thought it to be a great movie. I like anything that deals with motorcycles. The real test was when the wife and kids told me they liked it.

It's a great movie for the whole family. My grandsons fell in love with the guy. Go for it! PJ
 
We rented it awhile back.My Wife said
"Great movie".
I really liked the scenes with the real
Burt that were included.What a character!

My wife and kids and I went to see this in a local "arts" theater, my youngest was 8 at the time. We all loved it.
 
Yep saw the movie and asked a cyberspace pal in New Zealand if he had seen it. He was very enthusiastic about it and said it is true to New Zealand and its many "characters". My wife, also not much of a motorcycle enthusiast, saw it more as a favor to me and raved about it.
 
A film to be owned and forwarded to anyone with doubts about how to, or whether to pursue their muse...

Great flick, and greater because it's based on a real-life individual.

We should all be as determined and resolute in our chosen goals as Bert. The world would be a far different place if that were so.
 
Just remembered there was a 'traveling' scene where he 'hooked-up' with a women, might heve to do some expailning to the young'ens

I forgot about that scene, but it shouldn't be hard to get by with a little tact, as it only shows them waking up in the morning. PJ
 
Great movie (but yeah, although it's pretty tame by modern standards, you might want to figure out how to deal with the bedroom scene, if you have younger kids).

We have a friend who sort of reminds us of Bert.

For anyone interested, Bert's actual record on the Indian was in 1967 in the 1000 cc class. He went 183.586 mph.

I love that movie. I buy very few movies, but that's one.

Another I really love is "Secondhand Lions" with Michael Caine & Robert Duvall. If you haven't seen that one, RENT IT!
 
Second Hand Lions is a great movie! We saw it in the theater when it came out and loved it! I don't think they could have picked two better actors for the parts. Now that you mention it, I'm going to look for it in the store. I'd like to see it again.
